The Pomona Police Department received a 911 call today, May 30th, at approximately 1:22pm in regards to a rollover traffic collision in the 1200 Blk of Pavilion Dr, Pomona. Witnesses reported that a small child, adult female and an adult male were running away from the solo ...car accident scene. The suspect vehicle was on its roof and sustained significant damage after striking a parked vehicle. The occupants of the van were reported to have sustained injuries as blood was observed on all three occupants. A child's car seat was observed outside the vehicle as well.

Officers immediately began a search and located the 19 year old female adult with the 9 month old child at a nearby park. The female sustained minor lacerations while the baby was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons. It was determined that the baby was strapped into the car seat but the seat was not seatbelted to the vehicle. The child did not sustain any obvious injuries at the time of this reporting.

K9 Officer Conley and his partner Jax, immediately responded to the scene and observed a men's shoe outside of the vehicle. Jax was put on the scent of the shoe for tracking purposes. The scent trail continued for approximately 1/2 mile away through a nearby park and over fences. Jax led officers to an area under a tree covered in heavy brush where the suspect was found hiding from the officers. The suspect sustained only minor injuries and was arrested for several charges to include Hit & Run, Child Endangerment and No Driver's License.
The Department of Children's Services was notified of this incident and will be following up on the well being of the child.
