AB109 compliance sweeps net 27 arrests across the San Gabriel Valley

From December 1st through December 11th, 2015, the SGV East AB109 Task Force conducted a series of one-day, one-city operations, titled “Home for the Holidays.” The operations took place within the ten cities under the jurisdiction of the AB109 Task Force. The mission of the operation was to contact AB109 probationers, parolees, 290 registrants, and subjects identified having outstanding warrants, and confirm compliance with the terms of their release.
The holiday season typically brings an increase in certain crimes. Many of those crimes are committed by repeat offenders who know that victims will tend to have more money and other property with them during the holiday season. Additionally, criminals who are on parole and probation or have absconded, tend to return home for the holidays to be with their families.
151 locations were contacted resulting in 27 arrests.
183 grams of narcotics were seized, including one shotgun.
The San Gabriel Valley East AB109 Task Force is a multi-agency team comprised of officers from 7 agencies and includes representatives from the LA County Probation Department, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Homeland Security. Their primary responsibility is to conduct compliance checks on those individuals who have been released from prison under AB109 to ensure that they are in compliance with their terms of release. The Task Force is responsible for enforcement in the cities of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Claremont, Covina, Glendora, Irwindale, Pomona, La Verne, West Covina and Whittier.
