  1. Photos or video submissions will be accepted. Submissions do not need to be professional in quality but bright enough to view. If you are sending a video, please limit your submission to 5-10 minutes. If you are sending photos, please keep your submission to about 3 photos per room/area.
  2. In your submission, please include 1-2 things you love most about your home or feature and tell us how you use it (i.e. If you are highlighting your fireplace, you may tell us how you love lighting the fireplace for Christmas dinner every year).
  3. Also, please include any information you would like to share about your family (i.e. Who lives in the home? How long have you lived there? What do you do for a living? Are you involved in the community in any way?).

We are still working on our Virtual Home Tour for fall

May 2021
In A Minute
Greetings from Pomona Heritage!

It has been a little while since we last sent an update. We are still working on our Virtual Home Tour for fall. If you have questions or would like to offer your home or part of your home we are still taking submission and would love to hear from you. We had our first in person meeting this May and it was so good to be with the Board face to face. We are excited to get back to normal.

If your are interested in getting more involved we have several openings on our Board of Directors this term. If you love old homes and Pomona and want to help educate and connect people to information and resources, serving on our Board is a great way to do that. We meet monthly to plan events and discuss preservation related issues. We are also still looking for a treasurer if anyone is good with finances and would like to help in that capacity.

We are go glad Pomona is opening up again. Second Street Antique Fair is this coming Saturday. If you haven't had a change to check out the restored fountains in down town this is a great opportunity to see them. Our beautiful Mid-Century Pomona library will reopen soon, with new art in the children's wing and a new help desk in the front. For those who miss a good historic tour we hear our friends at Historical Society of Pomona Valley are reopening their sites and museums. If you are interested you can find more info at

Hey Mayor of Pomona, do you really care about the peoples health? Health Effects of Diesel Fumes

In May 2002, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued its health assessment for diesel exhaust which found diesel particulate matter to be a “likely” carcinogen. Diesel particle exposure poses a unique threat due to its compound nature, consisting of a carbon core which acts as a magnet for numerous other toxins. The result is a hazardous mixture of fine particles, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and many other toxic metals and gases.

Fine particles have been linked to a wide variety of serious health impacts, ranging from respiratory ailments such as asthma attacks to heart attacks, stroke, and premature death. A recent report of the Clean Air Task Force states that approximately 21,000 people die prematurely each year due to particulate matter pollution from diesel exposure. Approximately 3,000 of these premature deaths are due to lung cancer from these exposures, as diesel exhaust presents a lung cancer risk 7.5 times higher than the cancer risks of all other air toxins combined.

Diesel locomotives account for a significant portion of diesel emissions. The Clean Air Task Force report further states that occupational exposures to diesel are among the highest environmental exposures, primarily associated with increased incidence of lung cancer. However, a study of railroad workers suggests that diesel exposure may also have caused serious and permanent impairment to the central nervous system.

In addition to these health risks, exposure to diesel fumes may also impact an individual’s immune system, disrupting the chemical signals and production of antibodies resulting in a decreased ability to recover from illness.
