Wind Advisory: Weather Service Warns Heavy Winds Could Down Trees

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Tuesday afternoon and warned that trees could be downed as a result of strong winds moving through the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County.
The winds are expected to intensify into the evening, according to NWS.
"The strongest winds will occur in the mountains where damaging wind gusts to 65 mph can be expected," the weather service reported. "Widespread gusts between 35 and 55 mph can be expected across remaining portions of the forecast area."
The advisory, issued just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, remains in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday. NWS warned of the increased potential for trees and tree branches to be knocked over because of recent rain.
"The combination of strong winds and recent wet soils will bring the potential for downed trees and branches across portions of the southland," the advisory states.
