"Don't Go There", an open mic night where ANYTHING goes. This event is hosted by Justin Saunders, Matthew Avila, and Chad Bailey on the first, third, and fifth Tuesdays of every month at DBA256, with the next event taking place on February 5th, 2013.
The event is free to attend, & goes from 7:00pm - 11:30pm. The event is 21+. Sign-ups begin at 7:15 the night of the event, with the first performance starting at 7:30. Sign-ups are based on a first come, first serve basis for the 20 spots available. There ...will be a person in charge of sign-ups, and you will only be able to sign yourself (or your group) up. Each performer gets one drink ticket, which can be used for a buy one get one free drink ($5 beer or house wine.) TO ALL PERFORMERS: 1. All performances must be under ten minutes. The ten minutes start as soon as you are called up to perform, so if you need to set up equipment/tune, do so in advance. Performers will be given a light at eight minutes to let them know there is two minutes left in their set. As nice as it would be to give people longer than ten minutes, there are too many performers to be able to do this, and it's unfair to cut other performances to compensate for your additional time. An open mic is supposed to be something that gives a lot of people an opportunity to perform, and we want to keep it that way. 2. Set Ups: We will have an area behind the stage for performers to get their equipment ready. When it is approaching your spot, feel free to alert one of the hosts, and we can open the back door for you to bring your stuff in. Space is limited, so we can not store equipment back there. Performers will only be able to set their equipment up right before their act, and will have to take it back to their car after their set. Please do not go on stage to set up your gear during someone else's performance. 3. Drum-set: Only way a drum-set can be used is if a drum (who signed up to perform) sets the drum-set up before the first performance, and leaves the drum-set on stage as a house-set for all drummers to use the entire night. 4. No split-sets; period. You are welcome to bring someone on stage to perform with you during your time slot, but you are not allowed to split your time slot up with anyone else. It's not fair to performers who showed up to sign-up (and may not have gotten a spot) for someone to just show up and take part of someone else's spot. Once the performer in the designated spot steps off stage, we move onto the next performance. 5. Equipment: in house PA, includes three microphones, two quarter-inch cables (guitar or keyboard), and RCA cable (to plug in laptop, phone, ipod, or some other audio device.) Bass guitars will not be plugged into PA. Five channels are the maximum amount of channels we will allowed to be used through the PA, period. You are welcome to bring mid-size amps for your instruments. There are two monitors on stage, but they do not always work. |
