The closure on Dalton Avenue at the railroad corridor between 9th Street and Foothill Blvd, is scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 18 and continue to the end of March. The road will remain closed through the duration of construction, 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Construction hours are 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Crews will work on grade crossing improvements for the 11.5 mile extension project, expected to make its way to the Azusa/Glendora border in 2015.
The sidewalk will also be closed to pedestrians during construction.
There will be a detour route during the closure, with signs posted along the streets. The Azusa City Library, Azusa Senior Center and local businesses will remain open.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
Doug Tessitor, Glendora city council member and chair of the Metro Gold Line Construction Authority, urged the public to remain patient during current and pending street closures.
“It is a minor inconvenience to what is going to be wonderful addition to the San Gabriel Valley,” he said.
