SAN GABRIEL VALLEY - Nightly lane closures are planned on the Pomona (60) Freeway through the San Gabriel Valley next week as part of an ongoing repaving project, Caltrans announced Thursday. From Tuesday through Feb. 22, up to three lanes of the eastbound 60 Freeway will be shut down between the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and Azusa Avenue from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Caltrans officials said in a written statement. The carpool lane in the same area will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. On the westbound side of the freeway, up to three lanes of the 60 Freeway are to be closed from the Orange (57) Freeway to Azusa Avenue from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Feb. 22, along with the carpool lane from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. The work schedule will be different beginning the night of Feb. 22 and continuing through Feb. 24, authorities said. Up to three eastbound lanes will be shut down from the 57 Freeway to Azusa Avenue from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m., along with the carpool lane between Seventh Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. Also closed will be the westbound Seventh Avenue onramp from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. and the connector roads from the 605 Freeway to the eastbound 60 Freeway from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. Up to three lanes of the westbound 60 Freeway will be closed between the 57 Freeway and Azusa Avenue from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. during the second part of the work schedule, according to Caltrans. The carpool lane will also be shut down between the 57 Freeway and
Nogales Street from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m., along with Fairway Drive onramp, the Old Brea Canyon Road onramp and the connector roads linking the 57 Freeway to the westbound 60 Freeway.
Detours will be posted, officials added. The $121.5 million repaving project is being carried out by contractor Flatiron West Inc. and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2014.
