Claremont Announces Winners of City Contest

Claremont has announced the winners in the 2013 Making Change contest, held in honor of civil rights leaders including Dr. Martin Luther King.
The city invited elementary, junior high, and high school students living or attending school in Claremont to honor civil rights leaders, by submitting letters, poems, essays, or artistic works related to the cause.
The 23rd annual contest was designed to increase awareness among Claremont youth of the contributions made by human rights champions, city officials said.
Entries were judged based on their originality, how effectively they demonstrated the students' understanding of human rights and equality and how well they incorporated the students' personal insight or experience, officials said.
