It was 66 years ago today that a man by the name of Jack Roosevelt "Jackie" Robinson played in a Major League Baseball game during the infamous baseball color line, shattering it in the process and setting a new standard for the game.
Although born in Georgia, Robinson firmly established himself in Southern California during his youth in Pasadena. Excelling in academics and athletics, Robinson became Southern California's hero.
