Renaissance Faire Returns This Weekend to Santa Fe Dam
Just some blocks away from Baldwin Park lies a land of imagination where jousting knights, regal ladies, saucy wenches and the court of a comely queen mix with today’s hipsters, history buffs, fantasy lovers and families.
The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire – the world’s oldest – presents its 51th season beginning April 6 and continuing each weekend through May 19 at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area.
The event, which illustrates with precision how people lived during that period, features knights riding horses, open-air theater, musicians and food, among many other attractions.
Besides the traditional attractions like the Sultry Spanish Courtesan, the Clan Tynker Family Circus, and others, this year the wee ones and the young at heart will enjoy the Kid’s Kingdom where games, rides, crafts, story time, songs and magic are featured.
Kids can vie for the title of Prince or Princess of Misrule during Foolish Fractured Fairy Tales, build a fairy house, collaborate with a storyteller to create an adventure or become a Knight or Lady of the Realm by the Queen herself.
Admission prices are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 5 to 12. Adult season passes are $125 and a child’s season pass is $60.
The Santa Fe Dam is located north of Baldwin Park at 15501 E. Arrow Highway in Irwindale. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. "come rain or shine".
