Get on Those Bicycle Folks, It's Bike Week
The city reminds its residents that Bike Week has begun and runs through May 17.
On Saturday, May 18. City officials are encouraging residents to support local business and activities by riding their bikes during the week to shop and run other errands around town.
The Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition, or PVBC, has planned several regional events to take place during this week around Claremont. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, the PVBC will present a Community Bike Ride/Memorial Ride. Participants will get to ride along the Pacific Electric Trail to Route 66 Trailhead.
“This is a separated bike path and we will ride at a leisurely pace and make a stop at the 7-11 by the Trailhead,” ride organizers wrote in an announcement. “This is also a ride of Silence so please bring the names of those you would like to honor.”
For more information on other regional events, visit the Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition site.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is also sponsoring bicycle events throughout the county. Check out that information on their website.
