Thieves Using Alarm Company Name to Break Into Claremont Homes

Community group Keeping the Good in our Neighborhood is issuing a second warning to Claremont residents to beware about potential thieves posing as repairman.
The group reported on its Facebook page Tuesday that a person described as a young, white maile approached a home of an elderly woman claiming he was from an alarm company, and needed to make upgrades to the alarm system. Once inside, the man was able to remove items from the home.
According to multiple resident reports, the male is driving an unmarked white van, and claiming to be servicing ADT alarms, changing keypads at the request of Honeywell. Although the reports have been strictly mentioning ADT, he could be using other alarm companies as well.
Police remind residents that if they believe they are being targeted by a thief, to call Claremont Police at (909) 399-5411, or dial 911.
Authorities also remind residents that contractors should only be allowed into your home to make repairs at your request. Do not allow uninvited contractors into your home.
