A teen remained behind bars in lieu of $50,000 bail for allegedly prowling apartments in Diamond Bar as residents slept.
Martin Joshua Payton, 18, of Diamond Bar is due in Pomona Municipal Court Monday, jail records indicate.
Burglary is a felony crime in which a person enters with the intent to commit a crime; nothing has to be taken to constitute a burglary.
Deputies about 3:30 a.m. Thursday were called to the 1000 block of Grand Avenue to investigate a burglary, LASD Sgt. Byron Ward reported.
When they arrived, they found a woman who said she awakened to find a man in her bedroom; she confronted him and he ran off, the sergeant wrote in a news release.
As deputies searched the apartment complex, they found an open window with its screen pried off; they heard yelling and spotted a man racing out a front door.
He was nabbed, tagged and cuffed, officials said.
The victims were a 28-year-old woman; a 30-year-old woman; a 54-year-old man and a 58-year-old man.
