The MALIBU ARTS FESTIVAL brings out the best in everyone...
Each year, the Malibu Arts Festival snags artists from all over the state to share in a couple of days of community beauty and fun. It's really a great show as the only thing better than the art is the people. So, I grabbed my 3 favorite Malibu Babes (Bride of Fireball, Janine Waldbaum and Hannah Mulholland) and we set out to scour for coolness... And coolness we found.
Very grateful to have met these folks and you should check them out asap, either at the show or at their links below.
Some spectacular sculpture from SILVIA CHAIT conveyed a tremendous sense of tranquility as we stood there talking art... for about 1/2 hour! She was awesome and cute as all heck. Other top artists were ROBERT SHERMAN WILSON with his wild, wacky and joyful paintings (This dude knew color)... TIME McCLENDON'S incredible metal sculptures that were bright, passionate and cheerful (Even if one looked like an exploded slinky! They we extraordinary)... MICHEAL KELLEY'S framed mirrors and furniture expressed a very unique and timeless architecture, perfectly executed. You gotta get one of these! (kelley3@roadrunner.com)
NOBE'S Sculpture of the Bull and Child, King Kong and more were bronzed masterpieces (Just one conversation with him and you could feel the genius)... Art by KALEO brought us back to Universal Truth with his collection of Soda Pop Positive Art (SOda awesome!)... A super BIG dollar bill carving by STEVE GOMEZ made me want to make a Table of Prosperity to ensure the flow of dough... and finally a stunning piece of Swimming Leopards by WAYNE WEBER BAUER. Color, Texture and Depth. These guys were the best of the best...
If you want to see the real deal, then head to the Bu this weekend for some eye popping emotional art and take home something to make your pad perfect. It's just the thing to bring coolness...
