Baby Born at 9:11 on 9-11 at Pomona Valley Hospital

The following news release is from the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
New mother Shiann Robinson of Upland cradles her newborn Santana Aubrenae Robinson as grandmother Lola Blackwell looks on.  Santana was born on Sept. 11 at 9:11 a.m. at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.  The baby, weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches was due on Sept. 5.

Shiann Robinson was in her second grade classroom when the World Trade Center towers were attacked.   Shiann said she didn't understand the meaning of what had happened until she was in fifth grade.

"I remember a classmate in fifth grade at my school in Victorville was crying on Sept. 11 because his father had died in the World Trade Center.  That's when I understood the meaning of what happened," says Shiann.

Shiann said that she will tell her daughter in the coming years that "lives were lost 12 years ago on the day you were born but I view it now as regaining lost hope.  It's new beginnings for us."
