September 11 events




LifeStream and 96.7 KCAL-FM are holding a blood drive. Donors will receive (while supplies last) a special edition Patriot Day T-shirt commemorating the 12th anniversary of 9/11. KCAL’s Stu, Tiffany and Jimbo will attend from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Bernardino Donor Center, 384. W. Orange Show Road. LifeStream locations are in San Bernardino, Ontario, Riverside and Victorville.
The Chino mosque is also hosting a blood drive from 3 to 9 p.m. at Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, 11941 Ramona Ave., Chino

A firefighter appreciation night and town hall is planned at San Bernardino Fire Station 11, 450 E. Vanderbilt Way, San Bernardino. This is one of several town hall events coordinated by Councilman John Valdivia this week.

The Chino Valley Fire District Honor Guard and Fire District personnel will be placing a wreath outside Fire Station 66 at 9:30 a.m. to honor and remember those who lost their lives.

Redlands Townhall, a Tea Party group, is hosting “400 Flags for Benghazi” at Ed Hales Park in downtown Redlands from 6 to 8 p.m. The tribute to the four Americans who died during the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the Libyan embassy will include speakers, music and food. Organizers will circulate a petition calling for a special prosecutor to investigate the attack.

Fontana city officials are inviting people to remember the events of 9/11 and attend the dedication of the newly expanded Police Department. The event starts at 5 p.m. at the police station, 17005 Upland Ave., Fontana.

Celebrity’s Sports Grill, 137 W. 40th St., in San Bernardino is holding a fundraising event for the families of fallen military personnel. All profit from meals and drinks will go toward the families of fallen combatants. Entertainment is also planned by the band Negrete Nation at 4 p.m., comedy at 7 p.m. and a DJ at 9 p.m.

More than 3,000 small American flags will be placed outside Upland City Hall as a remembrance for the victims of the terrorists attacks. Volunteers will begin placing the flags on the lawn around 5 a.m.

The Office of the Chaplain at the University of Redlands will host a forum discussion on Syria and the 9/11 attacks Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Hall of Letters Room 100, 1200 E. Colton Ave. The panel includes Graeme Auton, professor of government, Patrick Wing, professor of history, and Sharon Lang, professor of sociology and anthropology. The panel will be moderated by Chaplain John Walsh.
