Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Aids in Eaton Canyon Rescue Wednesday

By City News Service
A 25-year-old hiker stranded on the side of a steep cliff in the Angeles National Forest north of Altadena was rescued by the sheriff's Altadena and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team today.
Rescuers had to hike to the first waterfall area in Eaton Canyon off any marked trail shortly before 2 p.m. The hiker had been climbing the steep hillside and became stuck on a narrow rock about 230 feet above the canyon bottom.
During the five-hour rescue, 14 members of the team used a 600-foot rope to lower the hiker to safety.
The hiker, a Los Angeles man, was uninjured and was taken to his vehicle by deputies.
