World's Largest Expedition Yacht Off Venice Beach
By City News Service
Owned by one of the world's 50 richest people, the Luna has been seen off the coast of Malibu and in San Diego.
People trying to beat the heat at Venice Beach Friday will likely catch a glimpse of one of the world's largest yachts, which has been anchored offshore for much of the week.
At 377 feet, the Luna is billed as the world's largest expedition yacht, and it's one of several owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Labeled by Forbes as one of the 50 richest people in the world, Abramovich is the owner of the Millhouse investment company, although European sports fans know him better as the owner of the Chelsea soccer team of the English Premier League.
The Luna was completed in 2010 and includes two helicopter pads and a swimming pool. The yacht was spotted off the coast of Malibu earlier in the week, and was docked in San Diego in December in January.
Some media reports indicated that the yacht was once borrowed by Madonna while she was filming a movie.
