Five Things To Do This Weekend



SATURDAY: The La Verne Heritage Foundation will hold the first orange picking of the season at its grove at Heritage Park, 5001 Via De Mansion, La Verne, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. For $5, visitors can fill a mesh bag with oranges from one of the last working orange groves in the region. Picking poles are provided. Will be open each Saturday until mid-March. SATURDAY: The Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino will hold its monthly Living History Event, “Aviation in the Movies,” featuring Mark Carlson who has written a book on the subject. Also speaking will be former Tuskegee Airmen pilot Robert J. Friend. Museum opens at 9 a.m. with the program running from 10 a.m. to noon. It is at 7000 Merrill Ave., at Chino Airport. Price is $11 for general admission, $4 for those under 12. Information: http://planesoffame.org

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: The Crossroads of the West Gun Show returns to the Ontario Convention Center, 2000 E. Convention Center Way, Ontario, running Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hundreds of vendors will offer all types of weaponry and accessories. Tickets are $14 for those 13 and older. There’s $1 off for tickets bought via the Internet at www.crossroadsgunshows.com. Information: 801-544-9125.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: The annual Reptile Super Show will be held at Fairplex in Pomona. Called the world’s largest reptile show and sale, it runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will have more than 700 vendor tables and displays of lizards, turtles, frogs and supplies. Cost is $14 for adults and $9 for kids 12 and under. Information: www.reptilesupershow.com

SUNDAY: The Chaffey Community Museum of Art, 217 S. Lemon Ave., Ontario, will hold a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. for its newest exhibit, “Paperless Society.” It features prints by eight artists on wood, metal, ceramic and other services, but no paper. Regular museum hours are Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
