              NATIONAL DENTIST’S DAY

Annually celebrated on March 6th, it is National Dentist’s Day.  This day was created as a day set aside to say “Thank You” to and show appreciation to  your dentist.
In many cases, the day of our dental visit usually has us a bit nervous and sometimes anxious.  We would often rather be someplace else than sitting in a dental chair.  The dentist is not the person that most of us look forward to seeing.    However, when the work is complete, such as: our checkup is done, our teeth are cleaned, the cavities are filled, the broken tooth is fixed, the toothache is taken care of and etc., we really appreciate what the dentist has done for us.
If you are not already in the habit of using them, today would be a great day to make a commitment to better dental habits.

If you are a dentist, HAPPY DENTIST’S DAY!!

        NATIONAL FROZEN FOOD DAY

Since 1984, National Frozen Food Day has been celebrated annually on March 6th.  Frozen foods got their own special day more than 50 years after they first appeared in the 1930′s.
The process of frozen foods was first developed by Clarence Birdseye in 1930, and became available on grocery store shelves in and around Springfield, Massachusetts.
Clarence Frank Birdseye II (December 9, 1886 – October 7, 1956) was an American inventor, entrepreneur, and naturalist, and is considered to be the founder of the modern frozen food industry” (Wikipedia)
The initial product line featured 26 items, including 18 cuts of frozen meat, spinach and peas, a variety of fruits and berries, blue point oysters, and fish fillets. Consumers liked the new products and this is today, considered to be, the birth of retail frozen foods.
Today the frozen food industry plays a big part in our lives.  There is usually more than one aisle of frozen foods in the grocery stores, full of everything: some of which include, breakfast foods, fruits and vegetables  TV dinners and ice cream.  One of our all time favorites, of course, is the frozen pizza.
Fun Fact:  ***** Swanson introduced the first TV Dinner in 1954 *****
Today, to celebrate National Frozen Food Day, take a trip to your local grocery store and find one of your favorites in the frozen food aisle!!

NATIONAL OREO COOKIE DAY

Be ready to celebrate and have your glass of milk handy as it is National Oreo Cookie Day.  This day is recognized, across the nation, each year on March 6th.
The Oreo sandwich cookie is made up of two disks containing a sweet cream filling and is loved by millions.  Since it’s introduction, the Oreo cookie has become the best selling cookie in the United States.
The National Biscuit Company (today known as Nabisco) first developed and produced the “Oreo Biscuit” in 1912 at its Chelsea factory in New York City. Today, that block on which the factory was located is known as “Oreo Way”.

The name “Oreo” was first trademarked on
March 14, 1912.

The first Oreo cookies in the United States sold for 25 cents a pound in
clear glass topped novelty cans.

In 1912, the Oreo Biscuit was renamed to
“Oreo Sandwich”.

In 1948, the Oreo Sandwich was renamed to
“Oreo Creme Sandwich”.

William A. Turnier developed the modern-day Oreo design  in 1952 to include the Nabisco logo.

Nabisco’s principal food scientist, Sam Procello, developed the modern Oreo cookie filling.

HAPPY NATIONAL OREO COOKIE DAY!
