As I remember it, growing up in Pomona 1950's and 60's

1. Is now the Pomona Packing plant.
                                                    2. That is Town Ave.
                                                    3. They use to make headstones there.
                                                    4. Eleanor St. that's the way we use to walk to the mall, from our
                                                        house.
                                                    5. Another Packing house on the corner of First St. and Eleanor St.
                                                    6. First St.
                                                    7. Palomares St.
                                                    8. Blue Seal Laundry on the southeast corner of Palomares St. and
                                                        Commercial St.
                                                    9. Hey that's where I grew up at on Monterey St. (Ave.)
                                                   10. Pomona Pumping Plant on Palomares St.
                                                   11. Is the old Phone Company building, back then it was a building
                                                         made of wood.
                                                   12. Second St.
                                                   13. Mayfair Hotel
                                                   14. Garey Ave.
                                                   15. Y.M.C.A.
                                                   16. Seventh Day Adventist Church
                                                   17. The old Bank on the northwest corner
of 2nd St. and Main St.
                                                   18.  The old Pomona Public Library on
                                                          Main St.
                                                   19. Packing Plant on the southeast corner of Park St.
                                                         and Commercial St.
                                                   20. Grain Factory on Town Ave. and 2nd St.
                                                   21. Parking lot now, but that's where
Buffum's Store will be some day.
                                                   22. There use to be a house on the southeast
corner of Monterey St. and Palomares St.
But later the house will be torn down and
Curley's Key Shop will move from Center
St. And they will build a new shop, like you
see today, where that house use to be.

Ren's Note: I could go on and on in what I remember as a kid
growing up in Pomona. The sights and sounds, and
the smell of orange blossom's in the spring time.
And the sound of playing cards on you bike as they
hit you spokes. Racing your friend up Palomares St.
to see who would be first to order your ice cream
at Mel's Hamburger's on Holt Ave. and Palomares St.
Like I said I could go on and on, maybe some other
time I will, but for me "They were the best of times"
here in the city I love.
