Pomona Optimists set annual oratorical contest finals
The Pomona Breakfast Optimist Club will hold its middle and high school oratorical contest finals on April 12 at the Pomona Unified School District offices, 800 S. Garey Ave.
The oratorical contest finals will begin at 10 a.m. in the main floor boardroom.
The topic is “How My Passions Impact the World.” Contestants will have 4 to 5 minutes to speak and will be judged on their poise, appearance, personality, content of speech , delivery, presentation and overall effectiveness.
The top 3 males and top 3 females will receive medallions and certificates of recognition from the club. The top male and top female advances to the zone finals, with the winners of that contest advancing to the district finals in Long Beach where the top male and top female win $2,500 scholarships.
