National Name Your Poison Day is celebrated each year on June 8. Over the years, bartenders have made the phrase, “name your poison” popular when asking patrons what they would like to drink. Today commemorates that phrase and is a day to celebrate making a choice or a decision. It may be a simple, easy choice to make or it might be a difficult decision that you have to put a lot of thought into.
The origin of the term “name your poison” is unknown. It is believed that, when it was first used, it referred to making a choice from some not so good options. It is suggestive that which ever option was chosen would be just as bad as the other one, hence the word “poison” being used in the phrase.
