Woman who Abducted her 12-Year-old Son, Signaling an Amber Alert, Gets 180 Days
Sri Ann Johnston also received five years' probation and was ordered to undergo at least a year of mental health counseling.
A Long Beach woman who was arrested after an Amber Alert was issued for her then-missing 12-year-old son was sentenced to 180 days in county jail, five years probation and ordered to undergo at least a year of mental health counseling, prosecutors said today.
Sri Ann Johnston, 48, was sentenced Tuesday after she pleaded guilty to one felony count of child custody deprivation, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Johnston picked up her son for mid-week visitation March 5, but did not take him to school the next day, according to prosecutors. She was arrested in Oceanside March 10 by members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, the same day an Amber Alert was issued.
With credit for time already served and good behavior, she's expected to be released from custody this week.
