Ontario set to host August firefighters competition
The Firefighter Combat Challenge will come to Ontario Aug, 21 through 23, after being cancelled in June because of problems with planning and logistics at another location.
The Scott’s Safety Firefighter Combat Challenge pits firefighters against each other in simulations that are inspired by real-life firefighting, including racing up a five-story tower and even rescuing a life-size, 175-pound “victim.” The games have been televised nationally on ESPN and CBS sports and the games include firefighters from all around the country.
This year, organizers are expecting up to 250 competitors, or more than double of previous years.
