The 2014 Home Tour Weekend begins on Friday evening, October 10th from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. with an opening reception at the famed "Wizard of Oz House," now the residence of the president of the University of La Verne. The evening will feature a presentation, live music, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, as well as, docent led tours of this unique and historic home.
A Guided Walking Tour of the Claremont Colleges on Saturday, October 11th from 10:00 a.m. to Noon will focus on the architecture of the campuses including the Godon Kaufman designed Scripps College, the Edward Durell Stone design Harvey Mudd Campus, buildings by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick E. Emmons, Millard Sheets and S. David Underwood, Raphael Vinoly, Theodore Criley Jr. and Fred McDowell and more. Tour-goers will be provided with a map of modern architecture in Claremont not included on the tour that includes work by Richard Neutra, Cliff May, Greene & Greene and others.
The Home Tour on Sunday, October 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will feature the homes of all current presidents of the Claremont Colleges, including Pomona College, Scripps College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Claremont Graduate University, Claremont McKenna College, and Keck Graduate Institute. This is the first time in Claremont Heritage's almost forty year history that all of the college presidents' homes have featured on a single tour. Tour-goers will be able to pick up their tour map and brochure at the Historic Garner House in Memorial Park (840 N Indian Hill Blvd) starting at 9:30 a.m. the day of the event.
