Pomona's Southside Historical Society - Thee Old Pepper Tree

 

This old Pepper Tree is located on the southwest corner of Buena Vista and Third St.

When I first moved in the hood back in 1978, there was this really old single story house, very rustic looking. No paint and rust window screens, the type if  you were to touch them, they would fall apart.

And has been vacant for years.

But the house did get torn down a few years ago, and this is what took it's place.

But they kept the tree.

 

Now I'm no botanist, but what I've read and seen pictures of these trees, this one is most likely to be over 100 years old. Check out the base of that tree.
