Living Nativity events planned at Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga churches

Two events put on by local churches next week will bring the nose and color and experience of more than 2,000 years ago to the Inland Valley.
Both run Friday through Sunday of next week.
At Pomona First Baptist Church’s ninth annual Bethlehem Marketplace will give an expected 4,000 visitors a glimpse into what life may have been like more than 2,000 years ago.
The marketplace will be open on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Visitors can sign the census, avoid the Roman soldiers, interact with the potter, weaver, carpenter, and other merchants.

Entrance and parking are free. Food is available for purchase at the Bethlehem café with some lentil stew, beef kabobs and citrus punch offered to experience a taste of the time!

In Rancho Cucamonga, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present its fifth annual Living Nativity event, “A Celebration of the Birth of Christ.” Live shows will run each evening at 6:30, 7:15 and 8 at 6829 Etiwanda Ave.

The free outdoor activity will include live actors, real animals (petting zoo), community carols, refreshments and an authentic stroll through the town of Bethlehem.
“Each year our number of spectators increases. We are expecting well over 3,000 people this year,” commented Caryn Payzant, director of public affairs for the Living Nativity.
“As in the past, CBS Channel 2 News is broadcasting a clip of our Nativity/Music program on their Christmas morning special,” said Debbie Jones, media specialist for the event.
