That's right folk's, this here is a picture of the city yard on Monterey St. (Ave.) no year on the picture. But it looks like the mid 50's.
In the back ground, those two huge silos, well those sit on the southeast corner of Commercial St. and Hamilton Blvd. Standard Oil use to occupy that lot back then, to this day the lot still remains empty.
Way over to the left top corner is where William Sigh Co. is on the corner of First St. and Huntington St.
And the big white two story tin building is still there, but today it looks a bit rusty, a row of new buildings sit along side of it today, going east and west.
Now when I was working for the city back in 1974, just about where this here picture was taken. Use to be the huge pine tree. Back then, they told me it was more then a 100 years old. Maybe the guy climb the tree to take this here picture. It didn't have to much green pine needles, but it was alive. but years later I notice it was gone, must of ran into a chainsaw or something, bummer.
