This is a gamer holiday that is celebrated on March 10th because of the way the date appears, when abbreviated (Mar.10),  it looks just like the name Mario.
  • Mario, the Italian plumber, first appeared in Donkey Kong in 1981
  •  In 1983 Mario got his own game with his brother Luigi
  • Mario is known as being the most famous video game character ever created
  • Over 210 million copies of the Mario game series have been sold
To celebrate National Mario Day, have some fun with friends playing video games.  You can also do something special for and/or with all people named Mario!

NATIONAL  PACK YOUR LUNCH DAY

National Pack Your Lunch Day is celebrated by many people across the country on March 10th of each year.   It is a day to pack your own lunch and take it with you to work, school, on a picnic, to your friend’s house or where ever you are spending the day and enjoy what you have made and packed yourself.
From Wikipedia:  ”A packed lunch (also called sack lunch or bag lunch in North America) is a lunch prepared at home and carried to be eaten somewhere else, such as school, a workplace, or at an outing. The food is usually wrapped in plastic, aluminum foil, or paper and can be carried (“packed”) in a lunchbox, paper bag (a “sack”), or plastic bag.  Lunchboxes made out of metal, plastic or vinyl are now popular with today’s youth. Lunch boxes provide a way to take heavier lunches in a sturdier box or bag. It is also environment friendly.”

NATIONAL BLUEBERRY POPOVER DAY

Enjoy your day on March 10th with a blueberry popover as it is National Blueberry Popover Day.   A popover is described as; puffy pastries, roughly the size of muffins, that have moist interiors — whether hollow or stuffed, with crispier, lightly browned exteriors.  Can’t you already taste a blueberry filled, light and fluffy, fresh out of the oven, popover?
“A popover is a light, hollow roll made from an egg batter similar to that of Yorkshire pudding, typically baked in muffin tins.Popovers may be served either as a sweet, topped with fruit and whipped cream for breakfast or with afternoon tea, or with meats at lunch and dinner.”  (Wikipedia) The name “popover” comes from the fact that the batter swells or “pops” over the top of the muffin tin while baking.** 1850 – The oldest known reference to popovers in a letter of E.E. Stuart.**  1876 – The first cookbook with a popover recipe was Practical Cooking by M.N. Henderson.
