Pomona Rotary Club plans Aug. 23 fundraiser


The Pomona Police Department’s Explorer program and the Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center will benefit from the Rotary Club of Pomona’s “Hot August Night” event at the Fairplex Conference Center on Aug. 23.
The fourth annual “Hot” event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the center, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona. Tickets are $75 each, or $700 for a table of 10.
“Hot August Night” this year follows a “Hawaiian Style” theme, and will feature music, entertainment, food and beverages in that vein. Proceeds will go to the Explorer program, whose membership includes Pomona teens interested in law enforcement and supervised by Police Department personnel, and the Lewis cancer center, which is part of Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
