On today’s date at approximately 3:30pm, the Pomona Police Department received information of a "man w/a gun in the area of Holt and Indian Hill. The caller advised that a male subject was in the company of a female that appeared to be a prostitute. The male subject lifted his shirt and exposed a black handgun to a witness. They were last seen walking west on Holt Ave toward East End.
Officers responded to the area and made contact with the female described in the earlier report. The officers determined the female subject was 15 years old and was working in the area as a prostitute.
The investigation also revealed that the male adult in this incident was serving as her pimp in order to protect her during her prostitution activity. The Pomona Police Vice Unit assisted with this aspect of the investigation based on their expertise of the sexual exploitation of minors as it relates to human trafficking.
A police supervisor was in the area a short time later and observed a subject matching the description of the pimp walking in the area of Holt and Loranne. Officers attempted to contact the suspect and the suspect immediately fled on foot from the officers. The suspect continued on foot through an alley and eventually dropped a loaded handgun. During the foot chase, the suspect jumped several fences and eventually fled into a business in the area.
The suspect was eventually located inside the business and positively identified as the suspect that was in possession of the handgun, as well as the suspect that was pimping out the 15 year old girl.
The suspect was booked at the Pomona City Jail and found to have prior felony convictions, as well as a no bail warrant for possessing a handgun and drug sales. The suspect was booked for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Human Trafficking of a juvenile prostitute, and evading arrest.
The suspect was identified as;
Stanley Maurice Stewart, Age-21, San Bernardino resident
