Metrolink is lowering short distance fares system-wide to as low as $3 for adults/youth/students and only $1.50 for senior/disabled/Medicare riders for One-Way tickets. The short distance fare is offered to encourage local travel on Metrolink and is good for one station to the next station on any line Metrolink serves. For example, riding from Cal State L.A. to Los Angeles Union Station is only $3 for One-Way and $6 Round-Trip for adults/youth/students. El Monte Station to Los Angeles Union Station is $6 for an adult One-Way ticket and $12 for a Round-Trip ticket. Beyond two stations, the price is more affordable with the existing fares, for example a trip from Baldwin Park to Los Angeles Union Station is $7.25 for One-Way adult fare. For travel more than two stations, distance based pricing is more affordable. This promotion starts on January 1, 2016.
