School Groups Tours

Free 90 Minute Tour
AMOCA offers free exhibition tours for kindergarten to college groups. Tours are available Tuesday through Friday, 10AM-3:30PM. Required adult-to-student ratio: 1 adult: 10 students. A maximum of sixty students may visit the museum at one time. Two weeks advance notice is required for all free tours. Tours scheduled outside of these hours will pay a fee of $5 per student.
Curriculum
AMOCA’s exhibitions often relate to current social issues and offer many curriculum connections for classroom use. Exhibition Guides focus on a selection of objects that illustrate a theme or idea and engage visitors in lively discussions that emphasize critical thinking skills. School tours may include a writing or drawing project in the galleries to encourage individual response. In addition to a guided tour, an exhibition-related art making lesson in our Ceramic Studio can be incorporated into your visit for an additional fee.
ConfirmationYou will receive a confirmation email when you schedule a tour. An Education Department staff member will contact you to discuss specifics for your group.
Special needs
The museum is accessible to all visitors. Please notify the staff of any special needs or concerns when scheduling a tour.
Student Tour Options
Classes may also take part in an exhibition-related art making lesson (Please e-mail the Education Manager in regards to pricing). These tours will be tailored to class and instructor needs. Hands-on activities are $10 per person (using air dried clay) or $20 per person for regular clay and firings.
