Paul Rippens will present a program on Henninger Flats; a property that is owned by the County of Los Angeles Fire Department and is located on the old Mount Wilson Toll Road above Pasadena. The property was homesteaded by William K. Henninger around 1880 and went through several hands before being purchased by the County of Los Angeles in 1928. The Department has a forest tree nursery at that location along with a visitors center and campgrounds. The talk covers the history of the “Flats” and tells of the forest fire that burned through the area in 1993. Paul’s book on the history of Henninger Flats will be available for sale following the talk.
