2017 Veteran of the Year

Dear Friend,
I was proud to honor a true hero of the 52nd Assembly District this week in Sacramento for the 2017 Veteran of the Year. Mr. Fred Kelly was a master sergeant in the United State Air Force who served from 1960 to 1984. During his time of deployment he served all across the world, including Vietnam, Zaragoza, Spain, England, and Taiwan. Mr. Kelly continues his work as an outstanding veteran who is active in the American Legion Post #299 in Chino, formerly serving as a vice commander from 2010 to 2015. He has volunteered his time in Chino's Memorial Day Celebration and donates baskets of toiletries and military hats to the Veterans Hospital in Barstow. Please join me in thanking him for his service.
As the Inland Empire experiences record-setting high temperatures, I want to remind everyone of a few simple precautions you can take to stay cool and healthy. Please visit FlexAlert.org to find energy saving tips and share this helpful graphic on your social media with friends and family!

Many college bound students are preparing to start an exciting and challenging new chapter of life in the next few months. I fought hard to significantly protect and expand financial aid for college students and the 2017-2018 California State Budget makes monumental strides in supporting college affordability. Along with these proud efforts, I am also thrilled to announce three constituents who were recently awarded educational scholarships. Two exceptional students from Pomona and Ontario have received the California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation Scholarship and one student from my alma mater, Garey High School in Pomona received the Everybody Loves Raymond Scholarship. Congratulations to these students and all others starting college in the fall!
For more information, please visit my website. We have some exciting events coming up, including a Community Health Fair on Saturday, check them out!
Sincerely,
Signature
