Dee Marcellus Cole and Carnival Seekers
The Claremont Museum of Art’s upcoming exhibition, Dee Marcellus Cole and Carnival Seekers, will present the work of eight local folk artists driven, not by the art world, but by the instinctive need to create. The exhibition, generously sponsored by Gould Asset Management LLC, will open on Saturday, August 5 with a reception from 6 to 9:00 p.m. during Art Walk and remain on view through November 26, 2017.
Dee Marcellus Cole, a self-proclaimed faux-folk artist living in Upland, creates vibrant sculptures constructed of wood and layered paper. These colorful creatures, whimsical in movement and spiritual in nature, are reminiscent of Latin American culture.

dA CENTER FOR THE ARTS Presents:
15th Annual Exhibit, “Aztlan: A Sense of Place”
This exhibition is proudly part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA,
a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles.
October 14, 2017 through January 28, 2018
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 14, 2017, 6:00 - 9:00 pm Closing Reception: Saturday, January 27, 2018, 6:00 - 9:00 pm
October 14, 2017 - January 28, 2018 - 15th Annual Exhibit, “Aztlan: A Sense of Place” - Co-Curators: Frank Garcia and Margaret Garcia. Collectively, artists, tinkers, thinkers, engineers, and urban planners will consciously construct creative solutions expressing voices of concern for o...ur inherited and future “Aztlan: Sense of Place”. By connecting imagination, tradition and technology, artists Leigh Adams, David Botello, Art Carrillo, Jimmy Centeno, Margaret Garcia, Mario Guerrero, Wayne Healy, Naiche Lujan, Heather McLarty, Cathi Miligan, Frank Romero, Nancy Romero, Marc Salazar, Mario Trillo, Ivan Deavy Zapien, and others will provoke an engaging dialog between individuals, communities, and institutions to enhance the contextual cultural map. “Aztlan: A Sense of Place” is part of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles, taking place from September 2017 through January 2018 at more than 70 cultural institutions across Southern California. Pacific Standard Time is an initiative of the Getty. The presenting sponsor is Bank of America.
The Joan Weldon Gallery space will feature “Western Hemisphericals” a rotating curated invitational exhibit that will feature artist renditions and interpretations of who and what is a “Western Hemispherical”. Is identity based on geographical environment as opposed to racial origin? For example, the people who have come to inhabit the southwestern part of the United States may have more in common through geography, including a mostly arid climate and the flora and the fauna that come with it, than they are racially different.

RETURNS!
Red Bull Straight Rhythm is back, once again featuring head-to-head racing on an “unwound” track, where there are no turns, just a 1/2-mile-long straight rhythm section. Now in its fourth year, the event will continue the new format where practice, qualifying and racing will all take place on the same day, with the finals taking place at night under the lights. With many of the world’s top Supercross and motocross riders expected to return to the competition and with some new changes to be announced shortly, the event looks to be better than ever.

Always Safety First
Tree limb down on west Second St.
It's been cut up and taken away.
Now in the next pictures below, you will see something, not safe at all.
Can you see it, it's like a spear, it will come down and hurt someone. Let's hope they take it down, before it does.
Here is a better view of it, yeah another tree limb. During our last art walk, I pointed it out, to a person who worked for the school. Well he had an attitude like he didn't really care. So I did tell him to put some yellow tape around the area, for safety reasons.
Well as you can see, the limb is still up there, and the yellow tape is no wear to be seen.
So bewear of falling tree limbs in front of the School there on W. Second and Main St.
