Clark's Bakery Building was erected in 1887 Another old-timer was the Peoples Bank of Pomona, located on the southwest corner of Pomona Mall West and Thomas Street. The coming of the Santa Fe Railway to this area brought a boom of new townsites along with the right-of-way. Claremont, Palomares, as North Pomona was called, Lordsburg now called La Verne, San Dimas, and Glendora are among those that came into being with the new transcontinental line.
