Todays Picture
A few days ago about 5:40 or so in the morning, I was heading west on First St.. The sunrise that morning was like fire in the sky, and the telephone poles stand at attention to salute the new day.
For me this time of day, is the best time. Mother Nature waking up from a restful sleep and all her children begin to follow, for another bless full day.

Scrappy Toys, A Hat or a Pinata?
Well it started to be a Scrappy Toy Car Hat, but then it's starting to look more like a piñata. Well if things don't work out with the hat, there's always the piñata. I'll come back and give you all an update later.

Off to school he goes
Well Charlie Brown just got some new touch ups for the coming year. I made this for Decker Elementary School about a year ago. Some fresh paint here and there, and he's ready for the new school year.
I'm sure this won't be the last time I see him, the kids there love their Charlie Brown.
Dee O Gee what does "Dog day afternoon" mean?.
The dog days were the days when the Dog Star, Sirius, rose just
before sunrise. Ancient Romans believed that the hot days of late
summer were caused by the Dog Star, and thought that dogs went mad
during this time (also that wine spoiled, people became hysterical,
and seas boiled!). Due to the precession, or movement of the
universe, Sirius is no longer seen in the same position from Rome,
but the expression has stuck. So a dog day afternoon would be the
afternoon of one of the very hot, sticky days at the end of
summer.
Ren's "Just sayin"
This is one of the "old mall street signs" This one of Gordon St. use be on the northwest corner there on the mall. It sat inside one of the old tree planters. Last time I took a real good close look at it, it had some serious rust issues.
Hmm wonder where this will one end up at?, Mr. Larry.
OK Ren here for another "Just Sayin"
P.S. restore it, and put it back where it came from. Make sure nobody gets any funny ideas what they should do with it. It belongs to the people of Pomona, just like those other ones.
Just sayin.

2019 LA County Fair Aug 30, 2019 - Sep 22, 2019 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM
The LA County Fair Goes POP!
Celebrate decades of pop cultural by revisiting all the toys, tech, fashion, movies and music that make up Los Angeles’ iconic pop culture scene!
Pop culture weaves our society together, giving us our shared heritage, so what better way to celebrate than by grabbing your friends and family to head down to the LA County Fair where nostalgia and pop culture will collide for 19 days of food, rides and fun!
The fair will be popping with a twist to some of the fan favorites like the Hollywood sign on the Hillside, Popnology 2.0, Millard Sheets Arts Center and specialty exhibits. The LA County Fair only comes around once a year so we pity the fool who doesn’t make it to the most popping celebration this summer!

Pomona's Clean up crew, "get er done"
Clean up took place at W. First St. and Oak Ave.
After a day of hard work, they stop to clean one more thing and that was the "No Dumping Sign"
Everybody cheered when the last of the paint was gone, job well done.
So now it's time to get a nice cold drink and celebrate a good days work. Let me just add also, there was other groups of people who came by to help, who also go around Pomona and pick up trash.
Sorry your name slips my mind, but anyway thanks for your help.
This was a month ago, but since then it's clean, except for a few tires, but it still looks a lot better then it did. Thanks again for the great job.
This weeks picture is about this here Plague
This here Brass Plaque use to be located at Roosevelt Elementary School. During the 1930's and early 1940's, President Roosevelt started the "Work Projects Administration" to get Americans back to work during the depression. And building the brick wall around the school was part of that work project. And most likely the bricks came from The Pomona Brick Co. that use to be on 9th St. here in Pomona.
Now since this picture was taken, the brick has been torn down, because of all the new upgrades that the school is going through right now.
About two weeks ago, I went by there and the brick wall was gone, and so was the plague.
So I was talking to someone about the plaque, he told me that he was pretty sure someone from the school dist. came by and got it. Now that's good news.

Mission Family Restaurant
Mission Family Restaurant is todays subject, it use to be located on the southeast corner of Mission and White Ave.. the building is still there, just needs a little help these days.
HUMANITY CHURCH on the corner of Gordon and Third St.
Everybody I want you to meet Bob Hilton, Bob is a long time member of the church and as you can see. Bob is adding little more cactus to his project, after a few came up missing.
Yeah he said that he knew that was going to happen, but maybe with the cameras, might give people a second thoughts about taking some anyway.
Well I told Bob we need a few more like this around Pomona and with that, I said keep up the good work.
Ptown and I went on our way.
