Officers Respond to Fight and Locate Two Firearms

 




LOCATION: 975 W. Holt Ave, Pomona, CA

CRIME/CHARGES:
 

  • 29800 (a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • 30305 (a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition
  • 25850 (c)(6) PC - Possession of an Unregistered Firearm
  • 1203.2 PC – Probation Violation
 
SUSPECT: Perez, Julio – 36 year old, Pomona resident

NARRATIVE: 

On Friday, August 20, 2021; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) responded to a call for service of gang members fighting at the Super Inn, 975 W. Holt Ave. Officers learned of a known probationer, Julio Perez, staying at the motel.
 
A compliance check of Perez’s room was done and two unregistered firearms were located outside the room, just below the rear window. A records check revealed Perez also had a probation warrant for his arrest.
 
Perez was booked at the Pomona city jail for weapons violations and his probation warrant.
 
UNIT:
 
The Pomona Police Department’s, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a specialized unit within the police department that is responsible for suppressing gang violence, investigating drug offenses and pursuing wanted persons. The team is comprised of two supervisors, four officers and two additional officers from the California Highway Patrol – Baldwin Park Office.
