FYI: Overnight Full Closure of State Route 71 in Pomona between Mission Blvd. and Rio Rancho Road. on Sunday, December 12


The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces a full freeway closure of State Route 71 (SR-71) between Rio Rancho Road and Mission Blvd. on Sunday, December 12 for utility line relocation. The scheduled closure is part of the SR-71 Expressway to Freeway Conversion Project.
Closures are:
Sunday, December 12 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
🔹Full closure of SR-71 between Rio Rancho Road and Mission Boulevard
🔹Northbound SR-71 Rio Rancho Road on-ramp
🔹Southbound SR-71 Mission Boulevard on-ramp
🔹Westbound SR-60 to northbound SR-71 connector
🔹Northbound SR-71 Garey Avenue on-ramp
Residents and businesses located near the freeway are advised to anticipate noise, vibrations, and dust associated with construction activities.
The schedule is weather-permitting, and all dates and times are subject to change.
Detours will be posted. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov).
Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
OHL USA, Inc., of Irvine, Calif. is the contractor on this $174.55 million project. This project is funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
