Kerckhoff-Cuzner Mill & Lumber Co.
Kerckhoff-Cuzner Mill & Lumber Co., between Gordon & Park, north of So. Pac. Ry. Driver - Marshall Horses - Lottie & Queen. These horses were raised by Richard Gird, being the colts of Sam Pariel (?) [Sans Pareil], a famous horse which he bought in Illinois. They were first sold to the Los Angeles Fire Dept, but they were too lively for the department and were returned to Mr. Gird. They were finally sold to Kerckhoff-Cuzner Lumber Co. We have heard that they ran away and killed one of the drivers. The horses were named after Mrs. Gird and her sister. This firm began the lumber business in Pomona. Date of picture 1900 (?
