A series of loud booms heard in Monrovia and elsewhere Saturday night were from a fireworks show at the Irwindale Speedway, police said.
Dozens of explosions could be heard shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday and police received several calls from local residents, Monrovia Police Sgt. Nick Manfredi told Patch.
A NASCAR stock car race was held at the speedway Saturday night, according to the track's website.
