Five Things To Do This Weekend



FRIDAY: The 60th annual Upland Host Lions Club Community Fun in the Park event runs from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Upland Memorial Park on Foothill Boulevard between Grove and Campus avenues. Dinners are sirloin or salmon, with endless corn on the cob, coleslaw, roll and ice cream. Children’s meal is two corn dogs with slaw and corn. Money raised is donated for community projects. Adults are $20, children (under 12) are $7. Information: 909-921-2330.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: Chino’s Relay for Life, one of the top 20 largest such events in California, will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at Ayala Park, 14201 Central Ave. The 24-hour event raises money for the American Cancer Society. By earlier this weekend, the Chino event had already more than $117,800 in pledges for the Cancer Society with more than 100 teams signed up to participate. A cancer survivors lap will be held at 9:30 a.m. with the moving luminaria ceremony remembering those who have died from cancer, at 9 p.m.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: The Crossroads of the West Gun Show will return to the Ontario Convention Center, 2000 E. Convention Center Way. It’s open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $14 and are valid for both days. Kids 12 and under are free. Information: www.crossroadsgunshows.com

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: Jurassic Quest, the largest exhibition of lifelike, moving, museum-quality dinosaurs in North America will be from open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days in Expo Hall 6 and 7 at Fairplex in Pomona. There are T-Rex and Triceratops fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover long hidden dinosaurs bones, the “Dino Bounce” area with several dinosaur theme inflatable mazes, face painting and dino crafts. Cost is $20 for adults; those 65 and older and military with ID, $18; kids 3 to 12 are $15, and 2 and under free. Parking is $10 through Gate 17 on Fairplex Drive.

SUNDAY: “Happy Hour Sunday,” held Sundays in August at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario, cuts regular admission to swimming and the waterslide by 50 percent from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost of swim area admission will be $2.50 while swimming and waterslide is $5. The park is at 800 N. Archibald Ave., Ontario. Information: 909-481-4205.
