Artisans of Musical Design
Opening reception:
Saturday, January 12, 2013, 3:00 to 9:00 pm.
Beginning at 5:00 pm, musical performances by J.T. Whitney, The Penny Drops, and the Budrows will take place as well as some infused spontaneous solo and collaborative sounds from all of the participating craftsmen who have their hand crafted instruments on display.
Exhibition Curators Martin Maudal and Michael Kotzen share their passion for designing musical instruments with works by Kirk Delman, Jason Farthing, J.T. Whitney, Larry Porgreba, Simon Hill, Richard Barnes, and Steve Goode.
This exhibition displays both traditional and non-traditional varieties of instruments including guitars, drums, cajons, didgeridoos, stringed instruments, and sound sculptures.
Highlighted within the exhibition will be a selection of interactive drums for guests to use and to have a hands-on sound experience.

Sue Geeting will be leading a collage station in the upstairs studio to promote her Collage & Found Object class,
Eric Underwood will be downstairs in the dA Wi-Fi zone introducing people to his 3-D animation & photoshop studio course for beginners. The course requires a desire to use a computer as a canvas to create 3-D images and games just like the ones you purchase. The course is geared for ages 9 and above and a laptop computer is helpful but not required.
The other galleries and studios in the Pomona Arts Colony will also be open for you to explore and enjoy.
Make 2013 your year of self-expression !
