Burglars Take Swords From Local Business

Burglars have again struck a Claremont business, this time making off with swords from a local Karate studio.

The thieves smashed in a front glass window of the Sekai Academy, at 859 W. Foothill Blvd. overnight either on May 20 or 21.

“The owner is trying to get us an exact description of the type of swords they took,” said Claremont Police Lt. Jason Walters. CBS 2 News reported the swords were not sharp and were good only for display.

This is just the latest in a string of break in, many of the smash-and-grab style in which intruders smash in a glass front, grab an item and run. Those smash and grab thieves have also targeted La Vern and Upland businesses.

Claremont investigators are not working closely with their neighbors to solve the cases, Walters said.

La Verne Police officials said at least two businesses have been hit in the last few days.
