Claremont Set to Get New Eatery

Claremont may be getting a new eatery now that the city has completed its inspections for Petiscos, located at 211 West First Street.

Petiscos is anticipated to open on Monday, May 27, according to city officials.   The eatery will be operated by the owner of the Back Abbey and Union on Yale, and, according to an announcement by the city, will offer a simple, contemporary South American cuisine such as variety of tacos, tamales, soups, salads and street corn.

The restaurant received approvals from the Architectural and Planning Commissions. It will be located in an existing, small historic building which was renovated to include a kitchen. Renovations included restoring the building’s exterior with new wood siding, roof repairs, and historically appropriate paint colors, city officials said.

All of the dining for the restaurant will be at the rear of the historic building, within an outdoor seating area, officials said.
