Ale and Art to benefit dA Center for the Arts

Lore has it that the visionaries for both Dale Bros Brewery and the dA Center for the Arts have shared a passion for art and community. Dale Bros Brewery, patrons of community causes, is hosting Summerfest a festival of art, music and beer beginning June 22, 2013 from 2-10 pm, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the dA Center for the Arts. The event will feature a variety of interactive art installations for festival-goers to engage in as well as a chance to mingle with a Pomona Queen!

"Summerfest is about taking a day to relax, have fun, interact with the community around you, and to enjoy and learn about well- crafted beer, food, art, and music,” explains festival organizer Julie McAleer.

Dale Bros. is also committed to giving back to the community and hosts a number of fundraising events for various causes throughout the year. “As a local business, we’re only as strong as the community around us.  It’s important for us to help to support the causes and people who support us, and the community where we live.  The dA is particularly close to our hearts, as an arts organization committed to enhancing the quality of life in our area,” says brewery General Manager Karen McMillen.

More ART:
Within the festival, the dA Center for the Arts will also feature there current heads-up benefit.  dA friend and patron, Charles Allen has taught art for more than 25 years at Bellflower High School. One of the art experiences for the beginning ceramic students in the Bellflower art program was to create a realistic human head for a first semester project and an emotional human head in the second semester. Most of the students claim their heads but over the course of 25 years Charles was unable to discard the unclaimed heads and his collection grew exponentially. Charles and his friend Jill Carol came up with the idea of giving these heads a second chance and the idea of the  “Heads – Up” project to benefit the dA Center for the Arts was born.  Artists of all ages in and beyond the dA community were invited to select one or more of the unclaimed heads and to transform them with a new look.
