Beware of Possible Scammers in Your Neighborhood, Officials Say

Keeping the GOOD in Our Neighborhood has issued a warning to residents about a suspicious incident that occurred on Occidental Drive on Sunday.
“TODAY 1pm: A male in his late 20's claiming to be an alarm contractor requested access to a home on Occidental Drive to change the key pad,” volunteers with KGNH wrote in their Facebook alert. “The neighbor did not allow access and called (Claremont Police Department.)”
Officers searched the area, but did not find the person who was seen at the home, KGNH members wrote.
It’s not uncommon to have fake solicitors or repairmen try to access homes where they steal from residents. La Verne’s Police Department also put out a warning advising the public of that type of scam.
“It is our experience suspicious activity is NOT isolated to a single residence,” KGNH wrote. “This is also a great reminder to only allow vendors/contractors into your home upon YOUR request.”
Authorities encourage any resident who is approached and feels suspicious to not allow the person into the home, but to call Claremont Police at (909) 399-5411.
