Construction of 50-Unit Condo Project Underway

The development of 50 residential condominiums at Base Line Road and Monte Vista Avenue recently got underway.

Crews have started construction on the the project slated for the southwest corner of the intersection, according to City Manager Tony Ramos' report on the city's website.

Last week, the City Council voted to approve the final tract map for the project. Mayor Opanyi Nasiali voted no.
Citrus Glen at Pitzer Ranch, which the project has been dubbed, will involve the removal of two of the site's historic rock structures, Ramos wrote in the report. The storage shed and residence on the property will be demolished "due to their state of disrepair," he said.  A historic barn and pump house on the property will be restored and re-purposed for use as a community center and storage building for the development.

The project is a long time in the making.
"The City has worked with four different developers for more than eight years on building residential homes at the project site, and is very pleased with the new owner's (Taylor Morrison of California, LLC) development plans," Ramos wrote.
The Traffic and Transportation, Architectural, and Planning commissions, as well as the City Council has reviewed and approved the project.

"Claremont Heritage has also been actively involved in the redevelopment of the site, and has approved the restoration plans for the pump house and barn, Ramos said.
